This course is designed to give participants the skills to administer an Epi-Pen, use an anaphylaxis action plan and perform CPR in accordance with the guidelines and principles recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other peak bodies.

2 hours of practical content and assessment.
This nationally recognized course Perform CPR. This course satisfies the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines. Qualification is taken from the HLT Health Training Package.
No separate certificate is provided for the anaphylaxis training. Your professional development page will be updated by E-Learning.
This training is for DOE staff, and
You must be able to perform 2 minutes of CPR on a manikin on the floor.
HOW WILL YOU LEARN?
The specific topics covered by the CPR course include:
• chain of survival
• assessing the situation
• performing CPR
• demonstrating the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
• care of the collapsed, unconscious person
• special techniques for children and infants
• CPR in special circumstances
• infection control
• reporting procedures
The specific topics covered by the Anaphylaxis Education Program include:
• recognition of an allergic reaction
• how to correctly administer an Epipen
• how to follow an ASCIA Action Plan for Anaphylaxis
• taking appropriate first aid action
Participants will be assessed through the demonstration of practical
• practical skills,
• participation in role plays,
• analysis of case studies and a
• written quiz.
On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued
with a Statement of Attainment: HLTAID001 Perform CPR
PREVIOUS STUDIES RECOGNITION
This course format is designed for students who have already completed previous first aid training and are looking to renew/update their CPR currency.
There are no early exit points for this course of study.
Students are issued with learning materials and handouts relevant to each unit.
